Tools for Makers
Technology as an extension of craft.
The best tools disappear into the work — leaving the judgment, the touch, and the making entirely to you.
Carver's Pattern Maker
Wood carving
Turn a photograph of a spoon, a bowl, or any carvable object into a pattern you can print at true scale. Tap the object and the shape is traced for you. Set the length — any size you like, from a teaspoon to an oar — then add a centerline, a grid, and layout lines to strike against. Photograph a top view and a side view and both print together with shared registration marks, so they line up when you transfer them to the blank.
Everything happens on your device — your photographs are never uploaded. Free to use, and the printed page is always true to the size you asked for.
Bowl Designer
Segmented turning
Design segmented bowls ring by ring. Set outside diameter, height, wall width, and segment count for each ring. Visualize the turned profile with draggable Bézier handles. Paint wood species onto individual segments or apply pattern presets. Add feature rings with mosaic inlay. Preview joint alignment in 3D before you cut a single piece.
The full app — with cut list, bill of materials, and stock dimensions — is coming to Mac and iOS. The web designer is free to use now.
