Butterfly Garden Bench

Crafted for a client seeking durability in a small space, the body of this butterfly garden bench is built from quartersawn redwood, chosen for its stability in fluctuating temperatures and humidity. The bench’s strength is further ensured by mortise and tenon joinery, enhanced with walnut drawbores that provide both adhesive and mechanical holding power.

The seat boards are connected by walnut loose tenons, adding a touch of visual interest to the design. A gentle bevel in the seat offers comfort, while simple yet functional slats on the lower stretchers provide space for storing baskets or shoes, making this bench as practical as it is beautiful.
